Teaser

Connor sits in the art room at school, sketching his comic-book Quortoth panels.

Act One

On the roof of Dykstra Hall, a boy and girl perform a spell which will create a time portal to the past. The portal opens. The boy enters. But instead of closing the portal behind him, the girl runs away, leaving their spell book behind, and the portal still open.

Faith and Gunn discuss Gunn's plans for winning Angel's freedom from the Senior Partners over dinner in the the Slayer Council suite. Aiden stops by and tells Faith that there are Syndicate notes which might reveal the content of the recently stolen Nyazian Scroll.

Connor heads up to the roof of Dykstra Hall. Unbeknownst to him, he is being followed by Professor Roth. She is stunned to see him accidentally swept into the time portal. Acting quickly, she protects herself magicallly from its effects.

Act Two

The rest of the world is not so lucky. Connor has gone back in time and changed history. The world that now exists is one in which Angel, the vampire with a soul never existed. Gunn is still running with his vampire-hunting street gang. Faith is a rogue Slayer on the lam. And Aiden is working at a dull job at the Los Angeles Times.

Back in 1764, Connor arrives at the moment Holtz meets Angelus and Darla outside York, England. The vampires escape into the city. Connor follows. Holtz makes plans to find the vampires and kill them.

Act Three

Connor has an angry confrontation with a befuddled Angelus and Darla after he hears them discussing the elimination of Holtz.

Back in the present, Professor Roth figures out what happened and realizes she must follow Connor into the past to undo what he did, or Connor, whom she is charged to keep an eye on, will never exist.

The Watchers in the new present are more organized and ruthless then before. And for good reason. The First Evil is still at large in the world, and they must protect potential Slayers as they hunt down the person who stands between them and a new Slayer they can control: Faith.

Act Four

Aiden is also tracking Faith, intent on getting a big story about the supernatural. A bartender whose decorative sword was stolen by Faith tells him where to find her. Faith is on a demon-hunt with Gunn and his crew in Gunn's neighborhood. They come face to face with several vicious Turok-han.

Professor Roth arrives in the past, and goes in search of Connor. Angelus spies on Holtz's family and leaves shortly before Connor arrives there. Connor tries convince Holtz he must use stronger measures against Angelus and Darla. Disturbed by Connor's oddness and familiar manner, Holtz throws him out.
